About |
The sport of Airsoft started in Japan during the early 1980s. It was illegal to own firearms in Japan but there was a significant interest in them, so a company started producing spring-powered replicas of firearms that fired 6mm, plastic BBs. During the latter part of the 1980s the sport migrated to neighboring countries such as Hong Kong, Korea, Taiwan, and the Philippines. Airsoft started appearing in North America and Europe during the middle of the 1990s but it is only during the last 5-10 years that the sport started thriving in these venues. Airsoft uses 1:1 real world replicas of modern firearms of various types and styles.

The Silver Wolves began in the summer of 2003 with a handful of friends and a couple of spring pistols. The equipment of the players slowly progressed from spring pistols to spring rifles, to gas powered handguns, and then finally to fully automatic electric powered rifles. With members beginning to have high powered guns and beginning to equip themselves with realistic looking military gear it was time for an organized structure to be created. The Silver Wolves were formed as an airsoft team. With real world military training and tactics, the Silver Wolves have been to numerous airsoft events, small and large, across Wisconsin and Illinois.

After a lengthy break in 2005, the team began the year of 2006 with a bang. A new plan was formed, and a team revision was put into motion. With some of the senior members joining the USAC (United States Airsoft Corps) and a team name change, the Silver Wolves were reborn as the Wolf Recon Airsoft Team. Now, in 2007, some members of Wolf Recon have joined the Wisconsin Airsoft Association in hopes of expanding the airsoft community in the state. With military-simulation in mind, the Wolf Recon airsoft team and its members plan to bring airsoft in the Baraboo area to new heights.

Wolf Recon's initial beginnings in early 2006 involved us taking on the role of a platoon. With no real mil-sim structure in the area, Wolf Recon was prepared to adapt to the surrounding fields in order to coordinate with multiple squads. In September of 2006, with the creation of a mil-sim platoon structure in nearby Madison, Wolf Recon has decided to go back to what it excels at; being a rifle a squad. Focusing inward on success, dedication, tactical awareness, operation readiness, and efficiency will allow Wolf Recon to train for a multitude of different challenges. Wolf Recon is planning on being an operational squad that a nearby command structure can count on.
